Horse. Evening, Phillips Auction House, London, Great Britain, June 2013

The famous painting Horse. Evening was knocked down at £122,500 by Phillips in London with the pre-sale estimate being £50,000–70,000, which became one of the highest hammer prices for Kryvolap’s painting by the time and made him the most expensive modern artist of Ukraine. The work was created in Zasupoyivka village. The most difficult part was to search for the right red colour tints, the painter confessed. Although some day Kryvolap claimed to have mastered over 50 tints of red, this picture turned to be a real challenge. The red horse should not strikingly stand out against the red background and, at the same time, should not fade into it. Before it was up for the auction, the artwork had been in a private collection in Europe and had been displayed at Art Kyiv Contemporary VII international forum held on 1-18 November 2012 at Mystetskyi Arsenal in Kyiv.
