On 16 November 2013, the well-known art expert and curator Olesya Avramenko introduced her new monograph “Anatoly Kryvolap’s Pure Color Metaphysics” as part of the “Anatoly Kryvolap. Golden Collection” project exhibited at Contemporary Art Kyiv 2013 at Mystetsky Arsenal. The presentation included a discussion with the authors – Olesya Avramenko and Anatoly Kryvolap – facilitated by Director of the Modern Art Research Institute, prof. Victor Sydorenko, PhD, and joined by Olexander Solovyov, Olga Petrova, Olexiy Bosenko and Andriy Puchkov. Earlier, on 12 November, during the official opening of Contemporary Art Kyiv 2013, the authors had held an autograph session for readers.
The book depicts the painter’s creative career development in light of transformations in Modern art of Ukraine during 1960’s – 2010’s. It was based on detailed analysis of Kryvolap’s artworks, many interviews and author’s years long collaboration with the painter. The research highlighted Anatoly’s creative pursuit and achievements amidst the changes of the artistic consciousness, which happened in society from early 1980’s till late 2010’s. The monograph describes the evolution of Kryvolap’s artistic signature from the classical contemplative landscape through abstractive and emotional right to the “new Ukrainian landscape” – radical, sublime, meditative. This study will be of great use for those interested in Anatoly Kryvolap’s creation and those in search of cultural and soul transitions in Ukraine during the end of 20th century beginning of the 21st.
The book was recommended for publication by the Academic Council of the Modern Art Research Institute, reviewed by Olexiy Bosenko, PhD, Olga Petrova, PhD and Andriy Puchkov, D.A. Published by the Huss family run publishing house and sponsored by the JSC Oschadbank and Avangard Agro Holding.
